Can I migrate to Shopify with zero downtime?

We can't afford to have the store offline during business hours. Is a no-downtime cutover possible?

High-traffic store

Answer

Effectively yes. We build the Shopify store on a staging URL in parallel while your current store keeps selling. The night before launch we do a final delta-sync of any new orders and customers, then flip DNS at an off-peak hour (often 2–4 AM in your main timezone).

The only real gap is the DNS propagation window during the flip, usually under 15 minutes, and visitors mid-checkout aren't affected because the old store stays reachable until DNS fully points over. Most merchants see zero customer-facing downtime.
