How do I keep my blog and its SEO when migrating to Shopify?

My blog drives a lot of traffic. I'm worried Shopify's blogging is weak and I'll lose those rankings.

Answer

Your posts move over — content, images, and metadata — into Shopify's blog. The ranking risk again comes down to redirects: blog URLs usually change shape (Shopify uses /blogs/<blog>/<post>), so every old post URL needs a 301 to its new one. Get that right and the rankings follow.

Shopify's native blog is more basic than WordPress, but it's enough for most stores. If you publish heavily and need richer editorial features, the common pattern is a headless setup with a CMS (Sanity/Contentful) for content while Shopify runs commerce — worth it only if content is a core channel for you.
