What's the difference between Online Store 2.0 and Vintage themes?

Online Store 2.0 (themes from ~2021 on, like Dawn) added sections on every page, app blocks, and JSON templates — meaning you can add/reorder content and drop in app widgets through the editor on any page, not just the homepage. Vintage themes only allow sections on the homepage, so they're far more limiting and harder to extend.

If you're on a vintage theme, you're not in danger, but you're working with one hand tied — and new apps increasingly assume app blocks. When you next refresh the store, moving to a 2.0 theme is worth it for the flexibility and future-proofing alone.
