Is Shopify's free Dawn theme good enough to launch with?

Dawn is genuinely solid — it's fast, accessible, well-maintained by Shopify, and built on the modern Online Store 2.0 architecture. Plenty of real, profitable stores run on a styled Dawn. For launching, it's a smart, free starting point.

Where you outgrow it is brand differentiation and specialized merchandising: if your competitors also run lightly-styled Dawn, you blend in, and complex layouts or custom interactions are beyond what theme settings give you. At that point you either buy a premium theme with the look you want or commission a custom one.
